At this time, it is going to be a simple New Year Greetings.  2018 is about to arrive soon as we prepare to say farewell to 2017.  2017 is admittedly a challenging year for me especially after leaving Facebook.  It is quite different/challenge how to maintain connection with my family, loved ones and friends outside of Facebook and I am ok with it.  I find myself feeling at ease and calmer in my post-Facebook life.  Please do get in touch with me to reconnect via email, Instagram or blog.

As we ring in a New Year near and far, please continue to reach out with anyone, family, loved ones and/or friends, to maintain connection.  Do take some time to reflect on the past few months……contemplate what brought us joy and sadness…..think of our family, loved ones and our friends….Recalling all the precious memorable times….remembering how they enriched our lives…..they surely make our life more meaningful.

Whether any of us live nearby or far away, I hope my heartfelt wishes for happiness, health, and prosperity reach and touch to my cherished friends, loved ones and family at this special time of year.  May this New Year bless us all with the infinite possibilities of new beginnings.  Coalesce.  Thrive.  Hope.  Love.

Hello everyone – This holidays surely keep me busy.  I plan to update with y’all in few days with latest news on my knee and AT journey publishing project.  I leave you with lovely message from The Elf Quest – one of my favourite comics – perfect fit for hiking world/family.

The turning of each new year means new adventures...new journeys...new quests. May your companions along the way be full of love and laughter. May strangers be friendly and helpful. May the path be benign, nuts and berries be bountiful, and may all burdens be light.

Greetings Dear Family, Friends, and Angels,

Seasonal salutations to you!  We hope this finds you in good health and spirits.  While we are getting ready to celebrate our holiday, I am taking time to write our holiday greetings to all of you.

The year 2012 has been especially noteworthy for us.  We completed a leg between New Jersey and Massachusetts in the “wet” Spring despite my partially torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and meniscus I suffered in early of hiking.  I am fortunate to be able to move around with less pain as time goes.  My specialist said that due to my active lifestyle, I may require a surgery on my right knee before arthritis sets in and it will be too late by then.  Great!  I plan to hold it off until after completing AT as it requires around 4 months of rehabilitation after a surgery.  UGH.

Cane struggled and completed most of section in the White Mountains, New Hampshire which was notoriously known for its steep grades and unpredictable weather pattern.  It was one of his tough “trials and tribulations” of hiking journey on AT.  Our hiking had to cease in late July due to Cane’s rib cage injury before the borderline of the White Mountains and Maine.  Cane recovered slowly, but not without terrible pain for a few months.

As of today, we hiked 1,925 miles/3,098 kilometers in total for past 3 years.  It left us with remaining 256 miles/412 kilometers out of 2,181 miles/3,510 kilometers to hike which we plan to resume our hiking in summer 2013.  That remains our aspiration to climb Mt. Katadhin since we started out from Springer Mountain in Georgia in April 2010.  Not only that, we are truly blessed with befriending our peers – hikers on AT, AT angels, supporters on and off trail and via blog, support from our family and friends, our health, wits (perhaps), and sense of humor, and faith and perseverance to accomplish our AT dream – do not give up, no matter how long it may take to accomplish.

As the wonderful holidays approach, we want to take this opportunity to send you our best wishes.  Even though in miles/kilometers you may be far away, in spirit you’re close to our hearts.  We would love to hear from you on our blog.

I am going to leave you with some pictures to enjoy.  All the best to you and yours in 2013!

As the Holiday Season is upon us, we find ourselves reflecting on the couple of the past years and on those who have helped to support our endeavor in a most significant way.  It means a lot to both of us. Look forward to resuming our journey this upcoming Spring 2012.  We wish you a very happy Holiday Season and a New Year filled with peace and prosperity.

To all my AT Friends, Angels, Supporters, and Family,

I wanted to wish all of you a great holiday season, whether you celebrate Kwanza, Festivus, Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Brumalia, Amaterasu, Goru, Hogmanay, Junkanoo, Lohri, Mummer’s Day, Saturnalia or Wiccan Yule (if I missed any, sorry).

I sincerely enjoyed the companionship and friendship throughout the year. I have learned much from many of you and enjoyed many great memories with you. As we all go on with our life in the real world, I hope that we can continue with giving out some trail magics, hiking on some trails, and meeting other hikers. I used to think that no one else will care or offer help to us, the unknown hikers, while we are on or off the trail. Many of you showed me some tips, shared me some advices, or lent your shoulders to me for support. Once I am proven wrong which I am glad of, it is something that I will always remember. Indeed, there is a wealth of knowledge and support out there and it is great to see the love that all of you have for this trail, hikers, and people who are involved with the trail. I hope to see you all again throughout the holidays and next year as we, Cane and I, return to the trail once again to pursue our goal – complete AT from start to end.

May your nights be warm, filled with love and joy and of course, bug-free.

RamSham
